HBO and DC Studios have released a trailer for the final episode of the first season of “Lanterns,” in which John Stewart meets Sinestro on another planet. The former Green Lantern tries to convince him that the Corps is wrong in its attitude towards fear:
“The Lantern Corps believes that fear makes you weak. They couldn't be more wrong. Fear can become the most powerful force in the Universe.”
Sinestro's words may hint at the creation of his own corps and the appearance of the Yellow Lanterns. Earlier, one of the series' creators, Damon Lindelof, also hinted at such a possibility:
“Green and yellow are like black and white in the Lantern universe. These are opposing forces. I can only advise you to follow the events. I think it would be irresponsible on our part not to at least consider adding a little yellow magic. But no guarantees.”
The final, eighth episode of “Lanterns” will be released on HBO Max on the morning of October 5, Moscow time. After the series, John Stewart's story will continue in the film “Man of Tomorrow,” which premieres in July 2027.
Although HBO has not yet officially renewed “Lanterns” for a second season, work on a possible continuation is already underway. Showrunner Chris Mundy and writer Christopher Cantwell have been brainstorming ideas for new episodes since mid-July.
