The Last of Us Returns. Naughty Dog Officially Confirms Several New Projects
Naughty Dog has officially confirmed several new projects in The Last of Us universe, which are in early stages of development and are intended to expand the canon beyond Part I and Part II.
Naughty Dog President Neil Druckmann announced this at the conclusion of The Last of Us Day. According to him, the studio is currently working on “several very exciting new projects in very early stages.”
Since Grounded II, we’ve been talking about the possibility of telling new stories in The Last of Us world. We have several very exciting new projects in very early stages, so we can’t say too much about them right now.
The statement once again sparked discussions about The Last of Us Part III, although a third main installment has not been officially confirmed. It is currently unknown whether all projects are games: Naughty Dog only reported on new stories that will expand the series' canon.
The world of The Last of Us means a lot to us, and we wouldn’t return to it if we had nothing to say. We believe these are stories worth telling.
Currently, Naughty Dog is focused on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which the studio plans to fully unveil in 2027, so it will likely be a long wait for details on new The Last of Us projects.
