Sony is preparing an extended version of Spider-Man: A New Day for cinemas. According to Deadline sources, it will include deleted scenes, including the appearance of Claire Temple played by Rosario Dawson.
When the extended version will start showing and whether it will replace the regular one in the schedule is unknown, but for Sony, this approach is not new. In 2022, Spider-Man: No Way Home returned to cinemas 11 minutes longer. The extended version included new scenes with three Peter Parkers, an episode with Matt Murdock, and an alternative post-credits scene.
Sony has not yet given official comments. However, if Deadline's information is correct, the extended version will give A New Day an additional chance to compete with Avengers: Endgame for second place in the global ranking. The recent re-release of Endgame brought the film an additional $86 million in its opening weekend and increased its total gross to $2.885 billion. Currently, A New Day, with $2.495 billion, ranks third and is $390 million behind it, respectively.
