Konami to bring back three more classic series - new trademarks hint at company's plans

Konami has renewed the trademarks for three classic Hudson Soft series - Soldier Blade, Alien Crush, and Star Soldier - with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Konami has renewed the trademarks for three classic Hudson Soft series – Soldier Blade, Alien Crush, and Star Soldier – in Europe, sparking rumors of a possible return of the games.

All three applications were filed on the same day and include classes 09 and 41, related to video games and gaming services. The trademark renewal itself is a standard procedure for protecting rights and does not confirm the development of new projects.

In recent years, Konami has been actively returning to old series, releasing collections of classic games for modern platforms. For example, the Mystical Ninja trademark was re-registered in 2025, and a few months later, the Ganbare Goemon Daishugo! collection was released.

Soldier Blade, Alien Crush, and Star Soldier are united not only by their release time but also by their creator, Hudson Soft, which Konami acquired about two decades ago. The new applications appeared in EUIPO, although some of these trademarks had been previously renewed in other regions.

It is currently unknown whether Konami plans remasters, collections, or full-fledged returns of the series. Trademarks alone do not allow for determining the company's plans or release dates.
