SCP Fans Will Get Two Feature Films at Once - NEON Prepares Its Answer to A24
The film company wants to preserve the main principle of SCP Wiki and will release its adaptation under an open Creative Commons license.
In 2027, fans of the “SCP Foundation” may expect two feature film adaptations at once. According to Deadline, parallel to the A24 film, Neon is preparing its own picture, and work on it began even before the competitor's announcement.
The studio calls the project an “open-license horror” and maintains contact with the SCP Wiki licensing team. The film and related materials are planned to be released under Creative Commons CC BY-SA — other authors will be able to copy, distribute, and adapt the picture, including for commercial purposes. To do this, they must credit the creators of the original materials and the film, and release their adaptations under the same license.
Both films are expected to be released in 2027, but exact dates are not yet available. A24 acquired the project from Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios. It was previously announced as a new installment in the horror anthology “V/H/S” titled V/H/S: SCP, but it is unknown if this has changed after the deal with A24.
