God of War Laufey is Selling Like Hotcakes - Only GTA VI is Ahead

Debates surrounding the protagonist change did not prevent the new God of War from attracting an audience.

On September 29, pre-orders for God of War Laufey opened on the PlayStation Store. According to PS Store DB, the game currently ranks second in pre-order charts in 45 out of 50 regions where it is available, trailing only GTA 6.

Over the past couple of days, the game has also climbed in Asian charts: in Japan — from fifth to fourth place, and in South Korea — from 45th to third. Sony has not yet disclosed the exact number of pre-orders, but its chart positions indicate high interest in the game. The extended Digital Deluxe Edition, priced at $79.99, is in highest demand. It includes additional gear, in-game resources, a digital artbook, and a soundtrack.

The main character will be Faye — Kratos' wife and Atreus' mother. After her death, she awakens in the afterlife of the gods and discovers that her plans to protect her family are under threat. To help her loved ones, she must fight gods from various mythologies.

God of War Laufey will be released exclusively on PlayStation 5 on February 16, 2027.
