Sony Pictures Television and Amazon are close to launching a series based on the "Clone Saga" from the Spider-Man comics. According to Deadline, the main characters will be Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker — two clones of Peter Parker. The script is being written by Kelvin Yu, creator of the series "American Born Chinese." Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller, who previously worked on "Spider-Noir" with Nicolas Cage, are expected to serve as producers.
Details of the plot still vary even among Deadline's sources. According to one version, Ben and Kaine will discover they are clones and encounter other copies of Spider-Man. According to another, their origin and identities will be significantly altered for the adaptation.
Well-known insiders also shared their details. For example, Daniel Richtman describes the project as a superhero detective story about two partners:
"It will be a buddy-cop series with Ben Reilly and Kaine Parker, much like "Lanterns." They discover they are clones, and that becomes the basis of the plot."
In turn, MyTimeToShineHello claims that Ben will appear as the Scarlet Spider. In the comics, Reilly also wore this costume and later even replaced Peter Parker as Spider-Man.
There are no official details about the project yet. Deadline requested comments from Sony and Amazon, but company representatives declined.
