After 11 years, MMO Borderlands Online returns thanks to fans - remaster announced

News

Borderlands Online will receive various technical improvements.

The free MMO Borderlands Online from Chinese studio Shanda Games never made it to a full release and was shut down many years ago, but the project may soon return thanks to modders.

Enthusiast EpicNNG announced that he is preparing to bring Borderlands Online back soon — he and like-minded people have been working on this for a whole year:

Over the past year, countless teams have worked tirelessly to bring you the long-lost 2015 game in a remastered format that fully preserves the spirit of the original. I've already played it. And soon you all will be able to play it too. Thank you for your support, stay tuned for news — special announcements are coming soon.

EpicNNG spoke about the improvements players can expect from the unofficial Borderlands Online remaster: native 1440p resolution; 120 FPS support; unlocked FOV (field of view); hand-crafted English translation. According to the modder, this will be his “last project.”

Borderlands Online does not yet have a specific release date or window: launch is expected “soon.”
