Sony is not rushing with PS6: console release date and price remain in question

Sony has not yet decided on the release date and price of the PS6. The rising cost of memory and storage could make the production of the new console significantly more expensive.

During a recent meeting with investors, Sony representatives discussed the company's long-term hardware strategy. The corporation emphasized that they do not intend to sell future devices at a significant loss on each console, so they continue to monitor the market situation and evaluate the possible price of the new platform.

PlayStation CEO Hiroki Totoki specifically noted that the exact release date of the PS6 has not yet been determined either within the company or in official statements.

Rumors about late 2027, which corresponds to the traditional seven-year cycle after the PS5 release, remain a possible scenario, but Sony is not making any commitments.

One of the reasons for caution is the sharp increase in prices for RAM and fast storage amid high demand from other technological industries. According to various media reports, the cost of PS6 components could approach $1000, which creates a difficult task for Sony to maintain profitability at a price acceptable to buyers.
