Heroes 3 Creator Played Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake - He Liked It, But There Are Flaws

News

Ubisoft contacted one of the developers of the original Heroes of Might and Magic III and asked him to evaluate the remake. Michael Wolf played it and shared his impressions of what he saw.

Overall, the developer was pleased - he published gameplay footage and praised the art in Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake:

I must tell you that I have seen videos on the Internet where other players play this game and call it "neural slop" and "AI-******". However, in reality, it looks really good - I really like it. Everything is clean, the artists' work is high quality. It's cool.

Michael Wolf also appreciated the ability to use "zoom" (to zoom in on the image). However, not everything turned out well. For example, the developer noted the animation of the Spearmen at rest, which, in his opinion, should be improved:

Look at the animation of these guys - they are just eager to fight. I would fix the animation that plays at rest: let it run at normal speed, otherwise it now seems like they are suffocating. And the animation acceleration would only turn on when they start moving. To be honest, we had the same problem in the original.

Michael Wolf considers the music in Heroes of Might and Magic III Remake to be "not bad", but it's "not the Heroes 3 soundtrack". The developer still hopes that Ubisoft will be able to get permission to use the original soundtrack, as it is an important part of the game.
