"I did everything to get the game released on disc": Final Fantasy VII Revelation director explained the decision
Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi explained that the game weighs about 200 GB, so only the beginning will be on a single Blu-ray, the rest will have to be downloaded.
Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released in a physical edition on a single Blu-ray disc, and to play it, you will need to download the remaining game files from the internet.
Unlike previous parts of the updated trilogy, which were released on two discs, the finale will require downloading additional content on all platforms. According to director Naoki Hamaguchi, the game size will be about 200 GB, and a full physical edition would require up to three discs and significantly increase costs.
Hamaguchi noted that he is responsible for the quality of the game and the artistic component, while the distribution format is determined by the publishing department and platform partners. At the same time, he is a fan of physical editions and opposed a complete transition to digital distribution.

I did everything to ensure Final Fantasy VII Revelation was released on disc in boxed versions at all.
As a result, the disc will become a kind of physical key: it will contain the initial part of the game, after which the remaining data will have to be downloaded from the servers.
