A new wave of layoffs has hit the British studio Supermassive Games. The company has laid off over 70 employees from various departments, including developers, artists, producers, and management representatives. The layoffs are the result of a consultation process that the studio announced in August.
Initially, Supermassive Games warned of a potential reduction of up to 75 jobs. At the time, the company called it “a necessary step” to ensure business sustainability and promised to support all employees affected by the process. Now, according to reports from former employees on social media, the procedure has concluded, and the actual number of laid-off individuals has exceeded 70.
One of the employees who lost their job was Frank Tindle, who served as IT and Infrastructure Director. He worked at Supermassive Games for 16 years and was part of the studio's leadership team. Tindle stated on LinkedIn that he was warned of the risk of redundancy several weeks ago, and subsequently, his position was indeed eliminated.
In 2024, the studio laid off approximately 90 employees, and in 2025, another approximately 36 people.
