At RuneFest 2026, dedicated to the franchise's 25th anniversary, Jagex studio announced an animated series based on RuneScape. Blogger MoistCr1TiKaL, also known as Charlie White, is working on the project, and Lyrical Animation studio, which is also busy creating animated films for Bloodborne and Death Stranding: Mosquito, is responsible for the animation.
Jagex CEO Jon Bellamy hopes that the animated series will introduce the world of RuneScape not only to game fans but also to a new audience:
«We see huge potential in bringing Gielinor to life in new ways – both for the millions of people who already know and love it, and for a brand new audience».
The project is in the early stages of development, so the plot, screenwriters, cast, and premiere date have not yet been revealed. MoistCr1TiKaL has been playing RuneScape for a long time and is already collaborating with Lyrical Animation on the adaptation of his own comic Godslap, but what responsibilities he will take on in the creation of the animated series is unknown.
New details are promised to be shared in 2027.
