AI will not be responsible for "creative aspects" in SEGA games, the company assured
SEGA also has a special AI committee.
SEGA continues to implement artificial intelligence into various workflows, but the company is very cautious about its use directly in game development. SEGA management emphasizes that the creative component of development will remain with humans for now.
This was stated by Tsuyoshi Saito, Senior Executive Officer and Deputy Head of SEGA's business division, in an interview with the Japanese publication Nikkei.
According to Saito, the company already uses AI to improve efficiency in publishing and corporate areas, as well as in searching for and forming new business ideas. At the same time, SEGA intends to expand the use of technology directly in game development with extreme caution.
We are very cautious about using AI in the game development process and do not entrust it with the creative aspects of games.
SEGA also has a special AI committee, created to develop internal AI tools, formulate rules for their application, and check compliance with requirements when publishing games, particularly on Steam. The committee was presented to the public during the CEDEC conference last year.
When developing rules, SEGA takes into account differences in attitudes towards generative AI in different countries. Therefore, representatives of the company's legal and PR departments from different regions are involved in the committee's work.
