The unofficial port of the Xbox 360 era shooter has received a major update.

The unofficial PC version of Gears of War 3 has received a major update that fixes almost all critical issues of the original port. Thanks to this, players can now fully complete the game's story campaign from start to finish.

The port of Gears of War 3 appeared in July 2026, shortly after the release of a similar version of Gears of War 2. However, the third installment remained practically unplayable for a long time: during the campaign, players encountered numerous software bugs and softlocks that made further progress impossible. Modder DryreL released the Gears 3 Multipatch Tool, which fixes these issues.

Now saves and checkpoints work correctly throughout the campaign, and the risk of save file corruption has been significantly reduced.

In addition, the tool developers have made a number of technical improvements. The resource pool size has been increased from 145 MB to 8 GB, which should almost completely eliminate problems with blurry texture loading. Transitions between object detail levels during fast camera movements have also been improved, and 16x anisotropic filtering has been forcibly enabled.

The Multipatch Tool allows you to configure mouse settings before launching the game, removes the engine's built-in frame rate limit, and sets the maximum to 300 FPS.

The tool is also compatible with the HD Texture Pack, so port owners can further improve image quality if desired.

To run the PC version, you will first need Gears of War 3 Jacinto V1.1.1, after which you can install the Multipatch Tool. Both projects are distributed separately.
