Employees of the Pandora Box publishing house announced that next week, October 12–18, 2026, they plan to open pre-orders for "Lex Arcana. Endless Empire".
This is an official localization of the second edition of the tabletop role-playing game about the Roman Empire, in which real ancient history is mixed with archaic mythology, mystical secrets, and ancient legends.
Participants will become guardians from the Mystical Cohort of Praetorians, conducting secret operations and investigations in the style of "The X-Files" and Delta Force operations. While Roman legions repel barbarian raids on the empire's borders and deal with external enemies on the battlefields, the guardians protect the state from within.
Ancient vengeful gods of conquered peoples, nameless and forbidden cults, mythical creatures from legends and distant corners of the oecumene, corrupt officials and schemers seeking to weaken power and subjugate it, as well as insidious conspirators dreaming of destroying the empire and the emperor himself — these are just some of the threats the guardians face.
"Lex Arcana. Endless Empire" will introduce participants to an alternative history of Rome. Using the magic of divination and the Sibylline Books, Roman emperors were able to prevent events that should have led their state to collapse. And although the empire is no longer expanding, dangerous enemies continue to storm its borders and tear it apart from within.
Lex Arcana is a low-fantasy world, so guardians will have to rely primarily on their knowledge, intellect, strength, deduction, network of operatives, and authority, rather than on magic and divine intervention (although such possibilities are also present).
The second edition of the TTRPG "Lex Arcana. Endless Empire" was created by Italian game designers Marco Maggi and Francesco Nepitello, known for projects such as "The One Ring" and "Adventures in Middle-earth". The game has a unique and rather simple rule system that is perfect for mystical horror adventures with an emphasis on exploration and fast, bloody battles.
Italian historians and artists were involved in the creation of the game. Therefore, the books and other materials contain a lot of interesting, historically accurate information, feature concise design, and are supplemented with many colorful and stylish illustrations.
In addition, expansions for "Lex Arcana. Endless Empire" continue to be released, covering different provinces with adventures and bestiaries. To date, the following expansions have been released: "Secrets of the Empire" 1 and 2 (adventure collections), "Egypt", "Dacia and Thrace", "Britannia", "Italia". "Rome", "Rise of Atlantis" and a large campaign "The Fall" are in preparation. An encyclopedia about life and customs in Ancient Rome has also been released.
