Light, Darkness, and Balance: The Gods of Mortis Will Be an Important Part of "Ahsoka" Season Two

Dave Filoni spoke about the development of the storyline hinted at in the first season's finale.

Dave Filoni confirmed in an interview with Empire that the second season of "Ahsoka" will continue the storyline of the Gods of Mortis, three powerful beings representing different aspects of the Force. They were hinted at in the first season's finale when Baylan Skoll discovered enormous statues on the planet Peridea.

According to the series creator, the characters will have to decide whether to believe in the existence of this power and what to do if it turns out to be real:

"Will you believe it or not? And what danger arises if it's real? How will you prioritize? How will a Jedi act, and how will an ordinary person act? These questions arise throughout the season."
Dave Filoni

The Gods of Mortis first appeared in the animated series "Star Wars: The Clone Wars." The Daughter embodies the light side of the Force, the Son the dark side, and the Father maintains balance between them. The Father wanted Anakin Skywalker to take his place, but he refused. Ahsoka died after a confrontation with the Son, and then Anakin brought her back to life with the help of the Daughter.

All three subsequently died. Filoni has not yet revealed exactly how their story will continue in "Ahsoka," but he admits that transferring this mythology from animation to a live-action series has been a challenging task:

"It surprised me greatly when George Lucas created these archetypal gods. What did we explore in "The Clone Wars"? What was the metaphor? In many ways, it's a story about power: what you do with it and how you wield it. I think it's quite natural for a Jedi to come to such questions."

The second season of "Ahsoka" will be released on Disney+ on January 20, 2027. Rosario Dawson will return as Ahsoka Tano, and Hayden Christensen will once again play Anakin Skywalker. Natasha Liu Bordizzo, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Eman Esfandi will also reprise their roles as Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, and Ezra Bridger, respectively. Rory McCann will replace the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll.
