51% of Marvel's Wolverine launch sales were physical copies

About 35% of Marvel's Wolverine launch sales on PlayStation 5 in the US were physical copies of the game. These data are provided by the analytical company Ampere, whose statistics are referenced by The Game Business.

The figure is particularly noteworthy against the backdrop of Sony's plans to stop producing game discs for PS5. At the same time, in Europe, the share of physical sales of Wolverine was even higher — 51%, according to GSD data.

The figures vary significantly by country. In the UK, about two-thirds of Wolverine copies were sold digitally, while in France, more than two-thirds of sales were physical versions.

According to Ampere, Marvel's Wolverine became the second best-selling game for PS5 in September, second only to EA Sports FC 27. Approximately 2.16 million copies of the game were sold in a month.

Wolverine, however, was not the only notable September release with a high share of physical sales. More than 45% of Silent Hill: Townfall copies were sold on discs. For The Blood of Dawnwalker on PS5, this figure was 36%, and for Onimusha — 30%.
