HBO counts millions of "Lanterns" viewers - but apparently doesn't yet deem it necessary to renew the series for a second season

News

The final episode of the first season set a new record, but the Green Lanterns are still waiting for the green light.

The finale of the first season of "Lanterns," released on October 5, set a new audience record for the series. According to HBO, as reported by Deadline, the episode was watched by 10.5 million people worldwide in its first three days, including 7.2 million in the US. This is 13% more than the premiere over the same period — the first episode garnered 9.3 million viewers at its start.

Including subsequent viewings, the average audience for the season has already reached 19.3 million viewers per episode, and the premiere is approaching the 30 million mark. Despite these figures, HBO has not yet renewed the series for a second season, although preliminary work on a continuation has been underway since mid-July.
