According to Deadline, Paramount Pictures is developing a live-action film set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe. CD Projekt RED and Lorenzo di Bonaventura, known for his work on the Transformers franchise, will serve as producers.
It is assumed that this is the same project that CD Projekt RED announced back in 2023. At that time, the studio's partner was Anonymous Content, known for the series "True Detective" and "Mr. Robot." The creators planned to tell a standalone story in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, so if the initial plans have not changed, the film will not retell the game's plot.
Deadline has not yet revealed other details — the names of the director and screenwriter, the cast, and the premiere date remain unknown.
Meanwhile, on October 20, the second season of the anime "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" will be released on Netflix, which will tell a new standalone story in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe.
