Insider Names Rockstar's Next Release After GTA VI

Rockstar Games has paused work on a new version of Red Dead Redemption 2 for Nintendo Switch 2, focusing all efforts on preparing for the release of GTA VI and the launch of its online mode.

According to insider Nash Weedle, there is a 90% chance of the western game being released on the new Nintendo console. Development will only resume once the situation with GTA VI stabilizes. Currently, Rockstar has temporarily put aside side projects to focus resources on the main release.

Due to the pause, the port might be released in 2027 or even 2028. It is also unprofitable for Rockstar to release two major games too close to each other: they would compete for audience and media attention.

According to the publication, there should be no technical obstacles to the port. The Switch 2 is inferior in performance to the PS5 and Xbox Series X, but surpasses the PS4 and Xbox One, on which Red Dead Redemption 2 was released in 2018.
