Hugh Jackman answered a question about Wolverine's possible return in “Avengers: Secret Wars.” In an interview with Variety, the journalist reminded him that the actor had denied participation in “Avengers: Doctor Doom,” but a similarly definitive answer about the next film has not yet been heard from him.
Jackman first joked that he didn't understand the question, but when the journalist praised him for his answer, the actor explained:
“I have a chip in me, and that’s not a metaphor. It’s literally a chip, and if I say the wrong thing, I’ll be switched off. I don’t know who controls it, but someone controls it.”
Thus, Jackman again avoided answering about Wolverine's fate. Nevertheless, insiders are still confident that the hero will appear at least in the opening scene of “Avengers: Doctor Doom,” and in “Secret Wars” will become one of the central characters alongside Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man. The premiere of “Doctor Doom” is scheduled for December 18, 2026, and “Secret Wars” will be released on December 17, 2027.
