Final Fantasy IX: Reclusion Announced - It's Not a Video Game

Square Enix has announced Final Fantasy IX: Reclusion. Fans of the series should not expect a remake or remaster - under this title, the company will release a puzzle set.

Amidst the success of the Final Fantasy VII remake series, fans have long awaited an updated version of the ninth installment. It seems Square Enix remembers the interest in the classic game, but the new project turned out to be not at all what players were expecting.

Final Fantasy IX: Reclusion appeared in the company's official store and attracted media attention. Instead of a new game or an HD re-release, fans are offered a licensed 1000-piece puzzle set.

The puzzle costs $39.99 – the same price as many games on Steam and consoles.

Nevertheless, hope for a full-fledged Final Fantasy IX remake remains: for now, Square Enix continues to utilize the potential of the classic in other formats.
