The heiress of "Corsairs" received reworked graphics with Vulkan rendering - Caribbean Legend 2.0 testing has begun
The developers have prepared new features, implemented various technologies, and other improvements.
In October, BlackMark Studio announced the start of open beta testing for update 2.0 of the pirate RPG Caribbean Legend. The developers have prepared technical upgrades, reworked graphics, and improved gameplay.
The developers said that they have ported the game to a new, modern graphics renderer based on Vulkan: "This is the foundation of all reworked graphics - new lighting, realistic materials, and sea physics."
Global illumination and cascaded shadows have been added, PBR support has appeared - now objects have realistic materials with roughness and metallic surface settings.
SSAO (small darkening in corners and joints) and Bloom - a post-processing visual effect that creates a soft glow or halo around bright areas of the image - have also appeared.
Thanks to GLSL shader support, the picture "will become even juicier, effects - more cinematic, and your video cards will finally understand what they were bought for."
Some other changes and improvements:
- The sea in the game has been completely reworked, as well as ship physics.
- A dynamic weather system has appeared
- The sky has been reworked and sea ripples caused by draw distance limitations have been removed
- FXAA and SSAA anti-aliasing technologies have been implemented

- About 1000 new environment objects have been created
- The cities of Basse-Terre, Saint-Pierre, Bridgetown, Capesterre-Belle-Eau, St. John's, Philipsburg have been reworked, as well as jungle locations, all vegetation has been updated
- The developers have added texture caching, eliminating repeated loading of the same resources, and optimized sea geometry and textures - performance will improve, and memory consumption will decrease
- A full-fledged fullscreen mode has appeared, no longer leading to crashes.
- "Enterprises" have appeared - players will be able to buy land and create their own businesses in some colonies
