The anime "Dr. Stone" concluded on June 25, 2026, after four seasons. At the STONE FES. 2026 festival, dedicated to the series finale, the creators were supposed to bid farewell to fans, but instead announced a sequel titled Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING.
The new project will adapt the TERRAFORMING story from the 27th volume of the manga, whose events unfold after the main storyline concludes. Along with the announcement, a video featuring re-recorded lines by Senku was presented, and anime character designer Yuko Iwasawa prepared a celebratory illustration.
Manga author Riichiro Inagaki himself didn't miss the opportunity to joke about the unexpected continuation:
"The anime 'Dr. Stone' truly reached the final chapter of the original manga. I was deeply moved. And yet, somehow... there's still more to come! It wasn't a lie! After all, the scientific adventures of Senku and the others continued. In fact, such a lie is only welcome! One could even say that the announcement of this final event being final also turned out to be a lie! So please, keep following the scientific adventures of Senku and the others a little longer. It's incredibly exciting!"
When Dr. STONE TERRAFORMING will be released and in what format the continuation will be presented is currently unknown.
