Nicolas Cage explained why he will most likely no longer work with Amazon

Disagreements arose during the filming of "Spider-Noir," which was canceled after the first season.

Nicolas Cage stated that he will probably no longer collaborate with Amazon due to the company's attitude towards artificial intelligence. At New York Comic-Con, the actor said that even while working on the series "Spider-Noir," he refused to sign permission for AI use:

"Amazon is very pro-AI — so much so that they put 50 billion dollars into OpenAI. And I'm not one of those actors who are pro-AI. So you do the math! I'm not in their club. I didn't sign off on AI for "Spider-Noir." I probably won't be working with that studio again, but I'm okay with that."

Now Cage wants to collaborate more often with young directors who grew up on YouTube and prefer to make films on their own. Among them, the actor highlighted Kane Parsons, the director of the horror film "The Backrooms," who also opposes generative AI:

"I need to work with these young Gen Z filmmakers. They're doing it their way — through YouTube culture or whatever. They're building it from the ground up, with their own hands. I want to be a part of that."

Recall that in September, Prime Video announced the cancellation of "Spider-Noir" after the first season. At the same time, according to Hollywood media, Amazon and Sony are developing other series about heroes from the Spider-Man universe to replace the canceled project. It is not yet known whether Cage's refusal to sign permission for AI use affected the fate of "Spider-Noir."
