Marvel Studios has released a trailer for "Vision Quest" featuring initial critic reviews. In the video, reviewers praise Paul Bettany and James Spader, calling the series itself "a true love letter to "WandaVision" fans."
Daniel Baptista from The Movie Podcast described the show as "psychedelic and mesmerizing." According to other reviews cited, Bettany "shines" in every episode, and Spader as Ultron "steals the show."
Josh Wilding from ComicBookMovie also didn't hold back on praise after watching the finale:
"Just watched the finale. What a subversion of expectations! Incredibly powerful. What an amazing series about fathers and sons, love and grief, and what it means to be human. This is how superhero television should be done — this is the Marvel Cinematic Universe at its best."
These are just initial impressions. The embargo on full reviews will be lifted on October 12 at 10:00 PM Moscow time, so the series does not yet have ratings on aggregators.
According to the plot, a rebooted Vision is hiding from those who tried to turn him into a weapon and is searching for a new meaning of existence. For advice, he turns to the personalities of other AIs embedded in his software: Ultron, F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., and Jarvis. When a bounty is placed on his head, Vision goes on the run with Thomas Shepherd — a mysterious youth who may be a new incarnation of his son.
The first two episodes of "Vision Quest" will be released on Disney+ on October 14. The season will have eight episodes in total.
