Activision has bad news for those waiting for a single-player experience in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4's DMZ mode
The mode will be available on October 20 for those who pre-ordered MW4.
Infinity Ward held a Q&A session on Reddit dedicated to DMZ. One of the main topics was the possible appearance of a PvE mode, in which players would not have to face other users.
The reason for the discussion was one of the first gameplay videos, where the Single Squad Mission option was noticed. Some players suggested that it would allow completing missions without the presence of other squads. However, in the next trailer, this option disappeared, which raised questions about its purpose.
Infinity Ward explained that the shown list of modes was intended exclusively for developers and was never planned for public use. According to studio representatives, it allows employees to launch matches alone to work on the game.
In the final version of DMZ, players will be able to disable automatic squad filling to go on missions alone. However, this does not guarantee the absence of other users in the match.
This explanation did not convince all fans. Players pointed out that an internal developer mode usually does not require a separate icon, and the corresponding interface element was not hidden in the initial gameplay video.
