Scottish wrestler Drew McIntyre, in an interview with Collider, shared how Henry Cavill surprised him with his Scottish accent on the set of the new "Highlander." The actor recalled one day when they were filming on horseback near the castle from the original movie:
"I remember a moment when we were all sitting on horses in full regalia, in Scottish kilts. It was drizzling rain. We were at the castle from the original 'Highlander,' and Henry said: 'Well, how much more Scottish can it get?' [...] He has an amazing Scottish accent! Audiences will be amazed by this film."
Working on "Highlander" also strengthened McIntyre's desire to continue his acting career. According to the wrestler, on the same set with Cavill, Russell Crowe, Kevin McKidd, and Dave Bautista, who also started his career in wrestling, he managed to learn a lot:
"I learned a lot from everyone around me. It gave me confidence and made me believe that over time I could build a career in this world."
The director of the "Highlander" reboot is Chad Stahelski, known for the John Wick films. Henry Cavill will play the immortal Connor MacLeod, Russell Crowe will play his mentor Ramirez, and Dave Bautista will play MacLeod's arch-enemy named Kurgan. McIntyre himself will play Angus MacLeod, Connor's brother, and Karen Gillan will play Heather, the protagonist's mortal wife.
The official premiere date for the new "Highlander" has not yet been announced.
