Chandler Riggs, known for his role as Carl Grimes in The Walking Dead, has released a 19-minute fan film adaptation of Resident Evil 7 titled Biohazard on YouTube. The actor wrote, directed, and edited the short film himself, and also played Ethan Winters.
The film retells the beginning of Resident Evil 7, when Ethan goes in search of his missing wife and finds himself captured by the infected Baker family. The short film recreates several familiar scenes from the game, including the eerie family dinner and the fight with Jack Baker in the garage.
The role of Jack was played by Jason Douglas, who also starred in The Walking Dead. The series' special effects master, Greg Nicotero, also joined the film's production, providing the crew with equipment.
According to the creators, during filming they used real sets, practical special effects, and stunts, trying to minimize computer graphics. Although it was not entirely without it: Riggs clearly did not reattach severed limbs with healing fluid for real.
In the comments, viewers praise the acting of Douglas, Riggs, and wish for a full-length film with the same cast:
“We need a full-length Resident Evil 7 movie with you as Ethan!”
