Ubisoft plans to disband the creators of the Trials series and cut staff at Ubisoft Singapore
The company continues to reduce its bloated workforce.
Ubisoft intends to close the Finnish studio RedLynx, known for the Trials series, and also to lay off about 70 employees from the Singapore division, Ubisoft Singapore.
The company is evaluating its studios, analyzing their current projects and prospects for further work. Following the review of RedLynx, Ubisoft concluded that the division would not be able to remain sustainable in the long term even after staff reductions. Currently, the studio is not developing a new project, so the publisher plans to propose its closure. Approximately 52 employees' jobs will be at risk.
A final decision has not yet been made. In Finland, such plans must go through mandatory negotiations between the employer and employees if a company with 50 or more employees intends to take measures affecting jobs.
In the case of Ubisoft Singapore, the company intends to restructure and reduce its staff by approximately 70 people. The publisher has re-evaluated the division's future role and its involvement in the development of upcoming projects, aiming to make the studio more sustainable in the long term.
