"The Best Anti-Advertisement": Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Trailer Released Without Battles - Owlcat Showed Only Character Dialogues

Recently, Owlcat Games participated in the IGN Fall Fan Fest 2026 event. The developers released a trailer for the upcoming cRPG Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. However, there's a catch — it's filmed in a specific style that is difficult for people unfamiliar with the studio's work to appreciate.

For almost two minutes, the developers of Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy show characters running around locations and simply talking. The only "action" is opening doors and making choices in dialogues; no battles were shown in the trailer.

As a result, the comments under the trailer were filled with messages from long-time fans of Owlcat Games, many of whom were delighted with what they saw, as well as from dissatisfied players — they don't understand how such a trailer could sell a game to anyone and consider it anti-advertising.

What wonderful gameplay. Nothing happens — @Millyhouse705
A minute and a half of clicking "next," "next," "next" — and the dialogue is over... this is a top-tier gameplay trailer — @Reis_Room
The "How to Open Doors" trailer — @hanshaperle6075
This is the most anti-promotional game "trailer" I have ever seen. Why did you upload this boring, outdated alpha footage where you do nothing interesting, just walk around and click on everything? — @lianai.9795

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy is dedicated to the adventures of an Inquisitorial acolyte and his companions. The hero will have to conduct investigations, examine evidence, and character testimonies.
