The DC curse has reached "The Batman. Part 2" - the film with Robert Pattinson has a new director
Earlier, DC Studios announced that Matt Reeves temporarily stepped away from the set due to family circumstances.
The final weeks of principal photography for "The Batman 2" starring Robert Pattinson will be led by Steven Soderbergh, known for "Ocean's Eleven". According to Deadline, the director himself offered help to Matt Reeves, who temporarily stepped away from the set due to family circumstances and cannot yet return to filming.
A statement from DC Studios says that Soderbergh will work closely with Reeves, the cast, and crew to maintain the film's original vision. The director himself also emphasized that he does not intend to change the creative direction of the picture:
"Matt Reeves' work on 'The Batman' impressed me – it had a clear vision, precision, and strict consistency. Our task, together with Matt and his team, is to shoot material that will organically connect with what has already been filmed, so that Matt can complete his film."
For some fans, the situation evoked unpleasant associations with "Justice League," which Zack Snyder was also forced to leave due to family circumstances. However, details about the reasons for Reeves' temporary absence are not yet available, and the director himself assured that he is not going to abandon the film. He will continue to direct filming in London remotely from Los Angeles, and then return to work on the picture during post-production:
"I want to be clear: I am not leaving 'The Batman 2'. I am deeply grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this difficult time and helping to complete principal photography. Thank you all for your concern and kind wishes."
The international premiere of "The Batman 2" is still scheduled for February 18, 2028. However, the film's shooting has already faced delays, and now a temporary change of director has been added. It is not yet known whether this will lead to a third postponement of the premiere.
