Two Pallets of GeForce RTX 5090 Disappear at Brazil Airport - Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in Damages
Two pallets of Zotac GeForce RTX 5090 video cards, worth about $470,000, have gone missing in Brazil. The distributor cannot get an explanation about the fate of the cargo.
The Brazilian company Oderço, which has been operating in the electronics market for 38 years, reported the disappearance of a batch of video cards at Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo. According to the distributor, the cargo arrived at the location and then disappeared without a trace. Attempts to clarify the circumstances of the incident were unsuccessful, so the company turned to social media.
The value of the missing equipment is estimated at 2.5 million Brazilian reals, or $470 thousand. The exact number of video cards is unknown, although it could be at least several dozen devices. The specified amount corresponds to the purchase price of the cargo.
The incident occurred amid problems with RTX 5090 availability: in some stores, video cards are completely out of stock. There were reports of a possible reduction in the production of flagship models for AI accelerators, but NVIDIA denied these rumors.

Expensive components are increasingly becoming targets for criminals. Previously, there have been thefts of packages, sales fraud, and returns of devices without important components. However, the disappearance of two pallets at once at one of Brazil's largest airports stands out due to the scale of the incident.
