WARDOGS players quickly reached top-tier gear in the new season. Developers change plans
Bulkhead Studios admitted that accelerated progression in WARDOGS Season 2 was a mistake and decided to bring forward the release of Season 3 to provide players with a full fresh start.
The second season was released last week and gathered almost 289,000 concurrent players on Steam – reviews have been mixed. Players complain about cheaters and the lack of regional restrictions.
Additional experience and money for Blue Team participants allowed many to get the best gear in a few days. This caused dissatisfaction after a full progress reset before the second season.
The studio stated:
Season 2 was meant to be a fresh start, but for many of you, it doesn't feel that way. We intentionally accelerated progression and tried to better balance the game, as we indicated in the patch notes, but this was the wrong decision.
The studio will not reset the economy again, as this would be unfair to those who enjoy gradual development. Instead, the release of the third season and some of its content will be significantly brought forward. Details are promised to be revealed in a developer diary next week.
The second season added four weapons, four vehicles, three structures, a Molotov cocktail, rain affecting sound and visibility, and an experimental merchant allowing players to bet on their own results.
