Xbox Manager Proudly Stated That the Company Uses AI, Then Hastily Deleted His Account Due to a Huge Wave of Criticism

Brandon Stirrup, Senior Manager of Business Strategy at Xbox, urged the gaming industry to stop hiding its use of artificial intelligence. In a series of posts on X, he stated that Microsoft and other companies are actively using AI, and developers who ignore this technology risk planning for a future that does not exist. Shortly thereafter, Stirrup deactivated his account.

The reason for the deactivation was a large number of responses to the manager's posts. However, there is no confirmation that his statements led to any disciplinary action from the company.

Stirrup said that in two days, he created a simple game using so-called vibe coding, which can be improved. According to him, he dedicated about three hours directly to working on the project.

I'm telling you, I tried it and I'm convinced: it's true. Anyone can create a game.

Stirrup believes that the gaming industry is slow to adopt AI due to negative audience perception. In his opinion, developers and studios that do not include this technology in their strategies are focusing on an unrealistic future. He also stated that long-term plans for five to ten years that do not take into account AI development lose their meaning in current conditions.

The manager continued to defend his position, stating that he was ready to face the consequences of his words for the sake of an open discussion about the use of AI within Xbox.

If I get fired tomorrow, it will be because I told the truth that no one wants to hear. You can create a game with a simple prompt, including developing a game for specific preferences. Everything you want to see in a game is already available — for better or worse

In another post, he added that he was ready to 'take the hit' if it helped hundreds of Xbox employees stop pretending they weren't using artificial intelligence.

It's time to accept reality and move on.

Later, Stirrup formulated his position even more directly: according to him, Xbox uses AI, just like other companies in 2026. He stated that he wants the company to stop avoiding this topic and be able to move forward, despite criticism from opponents of the technology.
