Marvel Studios Casting Director Sarah Finn told Collider why Ryan Gosling was chosen for the lead role in the new "Ghost Rider." According to her, one of the main arguments was the actor's own desire to play the Spirit of Vengeance:
"He is the perfect choice primarily because he really wants to play this role. This is important: when actors are passionate about characters, we feel that love on screen. Plus, he is an incredibly talented and versatile actor. And with Shawn Levy at the helm of the project, I am confident in our capabilities."
Gosling has indeed been talking about his desire to play Ghost Rider for many years, and now his dream is about to come true. However, Marvel has not yet revealed which version of the Spirit of Vengeance he will portray on screen. It could be Johnny Blaze, previously played by Nicolas Cage, Robbie Reyes, played by Gabriel Luna from "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.," or someone else.
The premiere of the new "Ghost Rider" is scheduled for July 28, 2028.
