Control Resonant Creative Director Mikael Kasurinen stated that Remedy Entertainment's new game is not intended to reveal the studio's plans for future projects. According to him, despite a noticeable Easter egg related to Alan Wake, the developers wanted to make the sequel a standalone story with a complete ending.
In an interview with Video Games Chronicle, Kasurinen emphasized that the team aimed to tell a complete story that would not leave players feeling as if the most important events were yet to come.
No... I'll be honest — no. When it comes to Resonant, it was important for me that the game felt standalone. There's something in it related to Alan Wake, but that's it.
According to him, Remedy did not want to limit itself to creating a setup for future projects, leaving key plot questions unanswered. Kasurinen noted that Control Resonant should have a complete beginning, middle, and end, although individual elements of the game, of course, may be developed in the studio's subsequent projects.
