Deus Ex and System Shock Creator Tries to Shame EA for BioWare Closure

Warren Spector believes that the people who made the decision to close the once-renowned studio should lose their jobs.

Deus Ex and System Shock creator Warren Spector sharply criticized the closure of BioWare, accusing game industry leadership of making developers, not top managers, pay for business failures. He called the incident “complete nonsense” and stated that the executives responsible should lose their positions.

BioWare is more than just another studio. For decades, it has played a central role in the history of our industry. It managed to combine art and commerce, and its works changed the game industry.

The designer also urged executives to reflect on their own contribution to video game development and why it is the employees who directly create games who lose their jobs when companies fail.
