Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 sold 8.7 million copies and generated $366 million for its creators, analysts say

The game's launch on Xbox Game Pass significantly impacted sales distribution across platforms.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 generated approximately $366 million in revenue, selling 8.7 million copies. These estimates are provided by the analytical company Alinea Analytics.

According to analysts, Steam accounted for 58.8% of copies sold, PlayStation 5 for 35.7%, and Xbox (consoles and PC) for only 5.5%. The small share for Xbox is explained by the fact that since its release, Expedition 33 has been available on Game Pass, allowing subscribers to play without a separate purchase.

In total, about 4.3 million people accessed the game via Game Pass on consoles and PC. Of these, just under 700,000 Xbox users utilized their subscription to experience the project this year.

However, the situation may change. On October 16, the agreement that made Expedition 33 available on Game Pass for a year and a half concluded. According to Alinea Analytics' observations, a positive sales dynamic for the game on Xbox has already emerged since then. However, analysts note that it is too early to draw definitive conclusions about the long-term impact of leaving the subscription service.
