From the director of "Ghost in the Shell": two new trailers for "Armored Trooper Votoms" revealed

Mamoru Oshii's new work will be released in Japanese cinemas in November.

The creators of the anime "Armored Trooper Votoms: The Gray Witch" have unveiled two new trailers and a poster. The main trailer focuses on harsh military routines and battles of armored walking machines, while the second features a fragment of the main musical theme Na mo naki Shijin no you ni performed by Mika Nakashima.

The action unfolds towards the end of the Hundred Years' War between Gilgamesh and Balarant. Officer Maki Stauffenberg arrives at a frontline base to uncover details of the past of penal soldier Ash Vamps. Her comrades nicknamed her the Witch for her ability to return alive even from the most hopeless missions. In search of answers, Maki joins Ash's squad and ventures with them deep into enemy territory.

Production is handled by Sunrise studio with the support of Production I.G. Director Mamoru Oshii brought in long-time colleagues, including Kazuchika Kise, who was responsible for the animation of "Ghost in the Shell" and "Innocence". He developed the initial character designs, which were then refined by Tetsuya Nishio ("The Sky Crawlers", "Naruto"), Takashi Kojima, and Shingo Ogiso. The music was composed by Kenji Kawai, who collaborated with Oshii since "Red Spectacles" and the first feature film "Patlabor: The Movie".

"Armored Trooper Votoms: The Gray Witch" will be released as two feature films. The first part will appear in Japanese cinemas on November 20, 2026, and the release date for the second part has not yet been announced.
