The popularity of the DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has revived longstanding player requests to add a separate PvE option where they could explore locations, gather loot, and fight AI-controlled opponents without fear of attacks from other users. However, Infinity Ward has not yet announced plans to implement such a feature.
As Eurogamer notes, following the game's release, posts calling on the developers to reconsider DMZ's design have been appearing more frequently on Reddit communities. For many players, the constant threat of encountering other squads turns incursions into a source of frustration, especially when defeat results in losing all accumulated gear.
“Please give players the option to play DMZ without PvP,” a Reddit user wrote. According to them, losing an operator, weapons, equipment, and gathered loot due to an ambush by another squad is extremely frustrating. The situation is further compounded by having to spend over 60,000 in-game currency to revive the operator, while the lost gear is never returned.
