Capri from the anime “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2” brought to desktops: enthusiast introduces free AI companion

You can now get your own personal Capri without ever visiting Night City.

A developer going by the handle sigmasheron has released Capri AI, a free virtual companion for Windows that recreates the Capri construct persona from the anime “Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2”.

The virtual Capri can move around the desktop, hang from the top edge of the screen, sit down, and dance. You can communicate with her via text or voice, and the companion speaks her replies out loud. However, Russian-speaking users should note that she currently only understands English and Spanish.

Beyond chatting, Capri can launch programs, open websites, write in Notepad, search the web for information, and set reminders. In addition, she memorizes user instructions and displays learned connections as a neural network map.

Capri AI runs local AI models through Ollama. The installer automatically selects the appropriate model, after which you can interact with the companion without a persistent internet connection (though one is naturally required for web searches).

The app is available on itch.io on a “pay what you want” basis, meaning it can be downloaded completely free of charge. In the comments, the developer mentioned that work is already underway on a mobile version of Capri AI. In the next update, he also hopes to introduce Linux support and the ability to hook up custom voice models, if all goes to plan. There are no specific timeframes yet.
