Sonic the Werehog is now on smartphones: Sonic Unleashed receives fan port for Android with mod support

Enthusiasts continue porting console games to smartphones.

A developer under the nickname SansNope has released the Android version of Unleashed Recompiled, a fan port of Sonic Unleashed for PC based on the Xbox 360 version of the game. The mobile version supports touch controls and external gamepads, allows customizing the layout and size of on-screen buttons, and lets users install mods via a built-in manager.

The original Sonic Unleashed was released in 2008 and offered an unusual mix of gameplay mechanics. By day, players take part in high-speed runs as Sonic, and by night, they control his Werehog transformation. In this form, the hero no longer relies on speed, but on brute force and stretchable arms, which he uses to overcome obstacles and battle groups of enemies.

Running the port requires Android 10 or newer, a 64-bit processor, a compatible graphics chip, and files of your own copy of Sonic Unleashed for Xbox 360.
