The Playden project has appeared on jailbroken PlayStation 5 consoles, allowing users to run PC versions of games from their Steam library. The program uses a Wine port for the PS5, supports Steam Cloud saves, and creates separate game shortcuts on the console’s home screen. At the same time, this is not a PS5 emulator or a tool for running pirated copies—a user account is required to work with the Steam library.
Playden is an open-source project developed by an enthusiast going by the handle leolobato. The program connects to a real Steam account, displays the user’s library, and downloads games they own a license for. To run Windows applications, it uses prospero-win—a Wine port for the PlayStation 5.
Games can also be imported without signing into Steam: this is done by loading folders with Windows versions via a USB drive, an additional M.2 SSD, or FTP. A separate Windows environment is created for each game, ensuring that settings and files from different titles do not interfere with each other. Furthermore, Playden adds a separate shortcut for each game to the PS5 home screen, allowing it to be launched without opening the launcher beforehand.
