According to Variety, Jasper Talbot and Hannah Chinn will play the main character’s parents in the “Harry Potter” series, taking on the roles of James and Lily Potter. Joining them in the cast is Harry Gilby from “The Last Kingdom”, who will play Charlie Weasley.
All three will appear as early as the first season, based on “The Philosopher’s Stone”. However, while James and Lily are familiar to viewers of the movies, the storyline of Ron’s older brother was omitted in previous adaptations.
Charlie works with dragons in Romania. In the first novel, it is to him that the characters turn for help when Hagrid illegally acquires the baby dragon Norbert. Charlie arranges with his friends to take the pet to Romania, while Harry and Hermione secretly bring it to a Hogwarts tower. In the film, this story was cut short, leaving the dragon’s subsequent fate to Dumbledore.
The first season of “Harry Potter” premieres on December 25 on HBO and HBO Max. The lead roles are played by Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout. The second season, based on “The Chamber of Secrets”, is already in production.
