The Sony-owned studio Screen Gems is handling production. Karyn Kusama, known for “Jennifer’s Body” and who recently directed the first two episodes of the series based on Life is Strange, will direct. Matt Manfredi and Phil Hay, who previously collaborated with her on “The Invitation” and “Destroyer”, will pen the screenplay. Scott Derrickson, C. Robert Cargill, and Vince Cheng from Crooked Highway, who worked on “Sinister” and “The Black Phone”, will produce.

The original Mouthwashing follows five crew members of the space freighter Tulpar transporting a shipment of mouthwash. Following a crash, the crew finds themselves cut off from help, their supplies gradually run out, and tensions among the survivors escalate.

How closely the film will follow the game’s plot is not yet known. The cast, production timeline, and release date have not been announced yet.
