Family, work, and bloody visions: description of “Ghost Rider” starring Ryan Gosling surfaces online

The document hints that the actor will inherit Nicolas Cage's role, but there is a catch.

A production document for the film “Ghost Rider” starring Ryan Gosling has surfaced online, containing an early plot description. According to the description, the main character will be Johnny Blaze, whose seemingly idyllic life gradually turns into a nightmare:

“Johnny Blaze has the perfect life: a wife and two kids, a job at an auto repair shop, and the support of a small-town community… But Johnny himself isn't doing well. He has nightmares of monsters, and bloody visions haunt his waking hours. This life is beginning to feel like a prison. And inside him, there is a spirit desperate to break out.”

It would seem the description confirms that Gosling will play the most famous Ghost Rider — Johnny Blaze, previously portrayed by Nicolas Cage. However, the text verbatim repeats the synopsis of the first issue of the comic by Benjamin Percy and Cory Smith, released in 2022.

As Murphy’s Multiverse notes, production listings often use such descriptions as temporary placeholders until an official synopsis is released, so it is not yet possible to definitively claim that the filmmakers are adapting this specific story.

The film will be directed by Shawn Levy, with a screenplay by Jonathan Tropper. The premiere is scheduled for 2028.
