Armed with a match against the queen: dark metroidvania Well Dweller ported to Android

A fresh metroidvania with 97% positive reviews has made its way to smartphones thanks to enthusiasts.

An enthusiast going by the handle vocies61 has released an unofficial Android port of Well Dweller, a dark fairy-tale metroidvania by Kyle Thompson, known for Islets and Crypt Custodian.

The player controls a tiny bird named Glimmer, whose family has been captured by a cruel queen. The ruler loves garments made of bird feathers, so the hero must reach her castle and save their loved ones. The main weapon in this journey is a burning match, which can be used to fend off monsters, illuminate dark corners, and serve as a platform.

As they explore the kingdom, Glimmer learns to climb, glide, and fly, unlocking new routes and secret caches. Found trinkets enhance their abilities, and encounters with other inhabitants help uncover what happened to this world.
