Dante is back in action: Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition ported to Android

Enthusiasts continue porting cult classic games to smartphones.

A developer going by the handle nicolasspaiva has released an unofficial Android port of Devil May Cry 3: Special Edition. It is based on the version of the game from the Devil May Cry HD Collection for Xbox 360.

The mobile adaptation features touch controls with customizable on-screen button layouts, gamepad support, and a save transfer function between compatible versions of the game. The creator tested the game on a Samsung Galaxy S25 FE — the project runs stably at 60 FPS.

To run the game, you will need Android 11 or newer, a 64-bit ARM processor, OpenGL ES 3.0 support, and the files from your own copy of the HD Collection for Xbox 360.

The original Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening was released in 2005 for PlayStation 2. The game serves as a prequel to the first installment and follows the conflict between Dante and his brother Vergil. Released in 2006, the Special Edition allowed players to play as Vergil, while also introducing the Bloody Palace mode and additional difficulty settings.
